News Release

‘Where can I get one of those cool buttons?’

PORTLAND, Ore. (June 8, 2007) – “Where can I get one of those cool festival buttons?”

That’s one of the most frequent questions at past Safeway Waterfront Blues Festivals.

Not everyone knows that the special button is more than an artistic, sought-after collectors' item. It’s also a grounds pass to all five days of the 2007 Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival, presented by First Tech Credit Union, Wednesday, July 4, to Saturday, July 8.

Here’s the secret: Those in the know purchase a five-day festival grounds pass in advance for just $25 plus a small convenience fee through TicketsWest at 503-224-8499 or 1-800-992-8499 or www.ticketswest.com (search under “blues cruise).”

They then redeem the ticket at the festival gate for the special 20th anniversary button, designed by festival artist Gary Houston. The collector button is only available to those purchasing a five-day pass. Without a five-day grounds pass, daily admission is a donation of $8 and two cans of food per person per day.

This year’s festival offers the hottest lineup ever: more than 125 performances, workshops, after-concert dances, films, rainbows, fireworks and more. Enjoy all five days of this jam-packed festival with this convenient pass.

For every dollar donation, OFB can collect and distribute more than $7 worth of food through its food distribution system. Your purchase of a $25 five-day pass enables OFB to collect and distribute $175 worth of food.
