What volunteers are saying...

“I like to be where the action is. That’s why I volunteer at the blues festival. It can be hectic. But it’s very entertaining.”
—Jesse Reding, senior trust asset assistant at Wells Fargo, who has recruited teams of 50 to 70 Wells Fargo employees to volunteer at the festival for years.
“Our group likes volunteering at the gates. It’s low-stress, and you get a free T-shirt. Then, you get to go in to the festival and have a great time. The same Providence Health Plans employees return year after year. And they recruit their family and friends.”
—Michelle King, technical specialist, Providence Health Plans, whose recruits volunteered 258 hours at the festival during the last three years.
“Being a volunteer for Oregon Food Bank is very rewarding. Members of the Church of Scientology that I ask to volunteer tell me they have fun helping at the different activities. When I ask if they would be willing to do it again, they always say ‘yes.’ Oregon Food Bank is doing a great service for our community. Thank you.”
—Barbara Roland, community relations officer, Church of Scientology of Portland
“It's nice to do something that helps others. It's also fun! You get to listen to good music!”
—Nylene Mills, Technical Specialist with Providence Health Plans
“I enjoy the people and the music. And it's a great thing for kids to put on their college applications!”
—Cathy Nelson, Technical Specialist with Providence Health Plans
“I love the sense of community that is fostered by events like this. It gets people together from all walks of life to share something really positive. Having worked so closely with low-income neighbors via the Oregon Health Plan, I also know just how important Oregon Food Bank's services are to our community.”
